Digital Innovation Unit renews ISO accreditations for quality and information security
Thursday, 16 October 2025

The Digital Innovation Unit (DIU) has successfully renewed its certifications for the internationally recognised ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security Management) standards for another 3 years. This achievement follows a rigorous audit conducted by the British Assessment Bureau, which included in-depth process evaluations, documentation reviews, and staff interviews. A subsequent quality assurance process confirmed the accreditations.
These renewed certifications reflect the DIU’s robust management systems, its culture of continuous improvement, and its unwavering focus on delivering safe, secure, and high-quality digital services.
What the accreditations mean
- ISO 9001 recognises organisations that consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements through effective quality management.
- ISO 27001 is the leading international standard for managing information security, ensuring data protection and risk control.
Together, these accreditations reinforce the DIU’s commitment to quality, security, and service excellence—all of which are essential in supporting the NHS with trusted digital solutions.
Enabling the NHS Digital future
This milestone underscores the professionalism, resilience, and dedication of the DIU team. With deep expertise in Digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) services, the DIU is ideally positioned to support the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan for England, helping to drive innovation across the NHS.
Paul Copeland, Digital Health Lead at NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit, said:
“This achievement is a significant milestone for the Digital Innovation Unit and a testament to the hard work, professionalism and dedication of the entire team. Maintaining these accreditations reinforces our commitment to quality, information security and service excellence across everything we do. It ensures that our NHS partners can continue to have confidence in the resilience, reliability and governance of our digital services.”
